Adler & Allan Shortlisted for the 2017 Responsible Business Awards

Adler & Allan has been shortlisted in The Barclays Award for Building Resilient Businesses category

Harrogate-based asset protection and oil and environmental services specialist, Adler & Allan, is celebrating after being shortlisted for the 2017 Responsible Business Awards, thanks to its operations in Cumbria supporting flood hit businesses in the region.

Adler & Allan has been shortlisted in The Barclays Award for Building Resilient Businesses category, following the work it has been doing in Cumbria helping businesses protect themselves against future flooding events following the devastating storms of winter 2015/2016.

The company provided emergency response during and after the floods and is now supporting businesses and domestic properties by advising on and installing flood mitigation measures, as well as helping those eligible access the Government’s flood grants.

Mark Calvert, CEO for Adler & Allan, said: “We are extremely pleased to have been shortlisted for a project that has involved a number of Adler & Allan staff, providing very worthwhile support to those businesses in the most flood hit regions of the UK.

“Storm’s Desmond and Eva caused a huge amount of devastation, costing whole communities dearly in terms of damaged premises and equipment, downtime and loss of earnings. Following the extensive clean-up, we are helping to ensure that should the worst happen again, Cumbria’s homes and businesses are better prepared to deal with flooding.”

Now in their 20th year, the Awards champion the most inspiring businesses who are making a difference by taking action to build more inclusive workplaces, stronger communities and tackle our biggest environmental challenges.

Chief executive of Business in the Community, Amanda Mackenzie, said: “We want all businesses to be a force for good in the community, and being shortlisted means that Adler & Allan can inspire many more companies to be part of the responsible business movement, so that together we can work for a fairer society and a more sustainable future.”

The winners of all ten categories, including the Responsible Business of the Year will be announced at the Responsible Business Gala Dinner at the Royal Albert Hall on 4 July, in front of 1,200 business leaders. The headline sponsors of the 2017 Responsible Business Awards are Experian, Unilever, UPS, Aviva, Barclays, Fujistu, UBS, Unipart Group.
