Designer vacation business North America Travel Service has unveiled a comprehensive upgrade of its telecommunications, with support from Wakefield-based NGC Networks.
The bespoke holiday specialist, which was founded 45 years ago, is headquartered in Leeds with retail branches in Barnsley, Leeds, Edinburgh, Manchester and Nottingham. It employs 20 people at head office and a further 40 at its branches.
NGC Networks has rolled out a converged voice and data solution that increases capacity, speed and bandwidth without dramatically increasing running costs.
NGC removed the old telephone systems and ISDN lines at branches, replacing them with Avaya IP phones linked to head office, using an MPLS data network. It utilised VoIP through SIP trunks to reduce costs on line rental and provide free calls to UK landlines and mobiles.
The solution has enabled the business to set up Disaster Recovery options for routing calls to any site or head office in the event of an emergency.
Yvonne Spencer, director of leisure sales at North America Travel Service, said: “We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, which means that our team members need reliable and user-friendly communications.
“Before the upgrade, each office had its own telephone system which meant that any call from head office was chargeable as an external call. Now we are all on one unified Avaya communications solution.
“Further benefits include the ability to route and overflow numbers around offices and a centralised voicemail service that is more consistent and professional.”
Nikki Guest, director at NGC Networks, said: “North America Travel Service is a long-standing customer of NGC and we are delighted to support their growth with a major enhancement that delivers a more robust, resilient and faster voice and data network.”
NGC Networks provides business telecommunications and internet connectivity solutions to companies across the UK.
The company’s expanding portfolio of clients includes Bradford-based mail order business Freeman Grattan Holdings, The Family Fund, Timpson, Superbreak Holidays, Manning Stainton, Puma UK, Lowell Group, The Car People and Sharp Business Systems.
