Young entrepreneurs across the Sheffield City Region came together to mark the launch of a new forum, designed to help business owners aged under 40 meet others and find out more about the wide range of support available to individuals who are thinking of running their own business.
The unique event, which was hosted by the Sheffield City Region Launchpad programme, saw over twenty individuals ranging from a school leaver who wanted to find out more about being self-employed, to new business owners and individuals who have transformed their dreams of running a business into a reality.
During the event visitors were given the chance to find out more about the free support available through Launchpad, as well as creating new business contacts.
Launchpad is a free to access programme delivered throughout the Sheffield City Region which provides ambitious entrepreneurs and pre-start business owners with the support, knowledge and guidance they need to launch and grow their business. The programme also offers individuals the chance to work alongside experienced business owners through their Mentoring programme.
Support from Launchpad is available to all entrepreneurs and business owners who have been trading for less than two years and based in the Sheffield City Region.
Irshad Akbar, business mentoring manager at Launchpad said: “We regularly host networking events throughout the City Region but this is the first event we have held which is aimed specifically at those aged between 18 to 40 who are looking for support and advice as they take their first steps into business.
“Networking can be a daunting experience for anyone, especially younger entrepreneurs who have never attended a networking event before and don’t know what to expect.
“We created the Young Entrepreneur Network to enable young business owners and new entrepreneurs to support each other, share ideas and offer advice, whilst informing them of the free help available to them through the Launchpad programme.
“It was inspiring to see so many young business minded individuals at the launch event of the Young Entrepreneur Network and we are looking forward to launching it in all areas of the City Region throughout the year.”
Launchpad is a unique programme delivered completely free of charge as part of the Sheffield City Region Growth Hub. It is part funded by the European Union Regional Development Fund and delivered throughout the Sheffield City Region by local authorities and The Princes Trust.
Pre-start businesses and businesses which have been trading for two years or less in the Sheffield City Region are eligible for free support and mentoring.
