Business leaders are encouraged to take part in a free intercultural leadership and management course to encourage diversity in the workplace.
Approved by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and delivered at Leeds Trinity University, the bespoke training course aims to deepen the understanding of how different nationalities and cultures foster positive influences in workplaces, businesses, communities and cities.
The course is open to business leaders, community champions, volunteers and students from all backgrounds, particularly those from black and minority ethnic (BME) communities.
Icarbord Tshabangu, Lecturer in Education at Leeds Trinity University, said: “Most cities and workplaces in the world are more global and multicultural than ever before, hence the need to equip leaders and managers with intercultural leadership competences that will help them navigate diversity issues; raise job satisfaction; and inspire employees and communities, which in turn leads to improved productivity and positive lifestyles.”
The course will be delivered by Leeds Trinity University and Leeds Institute of Intercultural Learning and Action (INTERACT) in a new partnership between the two organisations.
Paul Lancaster, Coordinator of INTERACT, said: “The course aims to promote diversity as an advantage in bringing transformative change in communities, the workplace and cities. It’s aimed at all those in leadership and managerial roles, or those aspiring to such positions in their everyday work.”
The accredited course is free and takes place over four evenings in July (Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5, Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12) with lectures, seminars and study assignments, on campus at Leeds Trinity University.
There are a limited number of free spaces, and anyone interested in attending is encouraged to register their interest by Friday 16 June.
