Caterers at the University of York have been honoured with a national CUBO Award for the exceptional service they provide to students and staff.
The accolade was presented at an awards ceremony held at the University of Kent, celebrating the achievements of those working in higher education commercial services.
Judges were wowed by the University of York’s impressive growth over the past ten years, its approach to sustainability and its innovative catering packages that offer students nutritious and flexible meal options.
Lizzie Woodcook, marketing office manager at the University of York, said: “We are so grateful to all our peers and colleagues who voted for us this year. It’s incredible to be recognised in this way and it is a real testament to all the hard work and dedication the team has put in to develop a standout catering offer.”
Matt White, chair of The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO), said: “The challenges faced by university caterers are truly unique and delivering a high-quality service at great value is no easy feat.
“It’s astonishing to see the innovation that is currently taking place across the industry to create diverse menus that appeal to such a wide audience, and it’s for this reason TUCO are proud to sponsor the ‘Best Catering Service’ award. We offer a very hearty congratulations to the catering team at the University of York and all of those who were shortlisted.”
The CUBO Awards is an annual event which first launched in 2012 to acknowledge the achievements of those working in the higher education sector. The winners are chosen by the CUBO membership with the results announced at a gala dinner and awards ceremony.
