Hunters, one of the country’s leading estate agents, has announced an exciting change of ownership at its Bishopthorpe Road branch in York.
The successful branch will now be run by a father and son duo, Gary and John Romans, both of whom have extensive knowledge of the area and experience with Hunters.
Both John and Gary have worked within the Hunters brand before, with John having spent five years as a Sales Valuer and Negotiator at Hunters York, the founding branch of the growing national network; whilst Gary previously operated two other franchised offices in the region between 2010 and 2016.
Both will join the Bishopthorpe Road branch as Franchise Owners. The announcement is testament to Hunters’ flourishing business model and employee satisfaction rate.
The branch will continue to specialise in property sales in the Bishopthorpe Road, Bishophill, South Bank, Dringhouses, Tadcaster Road, The Mount and Clementhorpe areas. Often cited as ‘The Notting Hill of the North’, the Bishopthorpe Road area has emerged as one of Yorkshire’s most attractive destinations in recent years.
Bishopthorpe Road high street was named as the 2015 Great British High Street of the Year, with a selection of thriving independent local businesses attracting visitors and further investment into the area. As such, house prices have risen by 26 per cent in the last year and 31 per cent in the last three years.
John Romans, franchise owner of Hunters Bishopthorpe Road, said: “I have been with Hunters in York since 2011 and I can honestly say I love the city. I have a huge wealth of knowledge of the area having lived off Bishopthorpe Road and worked in the city for five years.
” Both Gary and I are very familiar with the high levels of customer service Hunters expect and deliver to their clients, and we are looking forward to ensuring we have a stream of happy and satisfied home movers throughout the Bishopthorpe Road and Tadcaster Road areas.
“Bishopthorpe Road and its surrounding streets is one of the most sought after locations in York – popular for its mixture of people, places, pubs, shops, eateries, schools and much more. It boasts a fantastic community feel and an almost village like atmosphere despite being just a stone’s throw away from York city centre.
“I am delighted to not only be working in this exciting area of the market but also to be returning to Hunters at such an exciting time in the business.”
Glynis Frew, chief executive of Hunters Property Plc, said: “We are delighted to see two very experienced agents take over ownership of this established and successful branch. Both Gary and John are very familiar with the local property market and seemed the natural fit for the branch.
“We pride ourselves not only on customer satisfaction but also on employee development and it’s great to see one of our own staff members progress to take on the business ownership of a Hunters franchise.”
