Abbey Tax appoints new sales director

Abbey Tax, a fee protection insurance provider and the largest tax consultancy partner to accountants, has appointed Christopher Penfold as sales director.

Christopher joins from Crowe Clark Whitehill, a top 20 national accountancy practice, where he was director of business development. Prior to that he worked for Grant Thornton.

Joining Abbey Tax, Christopher’s proven track record and creative insight will prove invaluable as the business continues to expand the complementary tax and insurance services it provides to accountants.

He will have responsibility for harmonising our core insurance and service products and enhancing our sales and marketing approach from our three offices in Sheffield, Rugby and London.

Christopher said: “Since my arrival last month I have enjoyed meeting my new colleagues and learning about the extensive array of support Abbey Tax can provide its clients.

“I have been impressed with the exceptional quality of staff here, both in terms of their experience and depth of expertise across tax and insurance.

“I look forward to meeting our loyal and long standing accountancy partners, who are central to our vision, building on existing relationships and listening to their news and views.

“With the formidable support of Abbey Tax’s parent company, Markel International, my focus will be on responding to our clients’ needs with practical and proactive solutions, to further enhance our respected position in the marketplace.”

Christian Stobbs, managing director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Christopher to the team at Abbey Tax. He brings considerable sales and marketing experience and strong insight into the needs of our core accountancy clients.

“Working alongside our existing expert team, I’ve no doubt Christopher will ensure the continued success and growth of our business.

“Christopher’s appointment reflects Abbey Tax’s commitment to serving the growing tax and insurance needs of accountants in the UK.

“In an ever more sophisticated tax and compliance environment, it’s important we are increasingly proactive with the support we can provide our clients. I look forward to working with Christopher and ensuring the continued success of the business.”
