Productivity boost for Sheffield City Region’s SMBs

Small businesses in South Yorkshire are being urged to embrace the digital transformation and improve their productivity, by Yorkshire’s fastest growing small tech company*.

Azzure IT is lending its expertise to the Superfast South Yorkshire (SFSY) scheme, which allows all small to medium businesses in the Sheffield City Region to apply for an Innovation Vouchers, which can fund up to 50 per cent of the cost towards digital innovation.

It means that small businesses looking to improve their business performance through digital solutions such as mobile working, CRM, collaboration tools, digital marketing, enterprise resource planning or ecommerce could receive up to £12499.50 in European funding towards the project.

Craig Such, managing director at Azzure IT, said: “When we talk about digital transformation, we’re referring to adapting business processes to incorporate digital technology and commercial approaches.

“In today’s world, digital is key to boosting productivity, smarter business decisions, empowering employees, differentiating your service and so much more.

“Azzure IT has enjoyed incredible growth over the past few years and to see South Yorkshire’s productivity levels well below the national average, which is also in decline, is a concern. Growing businesses all reach a tipping-point where the tools that supported them now hold them back but they need to know the commercial opportunities are huge.”

A look at the regional and sub-regional productivity in the UK by the Office for National Statistics reveals South Yorkshire has the lowest labour productivity of the city regions at 17 per cent below the UK average.**

Craig added: “Small businesses are the backbone our regional economy. We need to make the most of schemes like Superfast South Yorkshire to ensure our region has the mechanisms in place to be at the forefront of change and be a true influence in the Northern Powerhouse.”

The SFSY Connection and Innovation Vouchers Scheme offers an incentive to smaller businesses, in South Yorkshire, encouraging them to take-up faster digital connectivity or introduce transformational tech innovations to their business that will improve processes, customer engagement, communication, collaboration or business insight.

Natalie Ward, programme manager for Superfast South Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to be offering SMEs in the Sheffield City Region the opportunity to take up faster connectivity with vouchers worth up to £2500, and to introduce new digital innovations with vouchers up to £12,499, with the aim of improving performance and driving growth.”

Applications for Superfast South Yorkshire Innovation Vouchers are open now until August 4, 2018.
