Cross Hills-based Airedale Chemical has promoted a manager to procurement director, joining the five strong board of directors at the family owned firm.
Tony Howell, who joined the chemical manufacturer in 2010 and worked in sales prior to launching the procurement department in 2015 to help re-structure the business, has joined the board to further support the company’s diversity strategy and strengthen supplier relationships.
Chris Chadwick, managing director at Airedale Chemical, said: “I am thrilled to announce Tony Howell has joined the board as procurement director. Tony created and developed our procurement department with exceptional success, adding significant value to all aspects of our company.
“I would like to congratulate Tony in joining the senior team and look forward to working closely with him to continue developing the company.”
The chemical company’s procurement department manages supplier relationships, product commercials and forward planning on sourcing.
Tony, who will be continuing to manage the procurement department, said: “I’m incredibly proud to have been promoted to director-level; I relocated my family from the midlands for the position here so it’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact!
“Going forward, the role of procurement at Airedale Chemical is to continue improving systems including maximising digital software and training the team to optimise our supplier relationships providing the business with greater scope across products and pricing.
“Our department’s biggest immediate challenges include global manufacturing site closures which can narrow our supplier pool and of course, the increased complexity of importing products and the management of raw material prices.
“I’m very grateful to senior management and looking forward to contributing to the success of Airedale Chemical as a member of the board as we continue this exciting journey together.”
