Directors and staff at a Bradford garden centre are celebrating after being announced as finalists in three awards of a horticulture industry competition.
Tong Garden Centre has been shortlisted in the Garden Centre outlet of the year (large/destination), the High Growth Business of the Year and the Service Excellence Categories of the inaugural Horticulture Week Business Awards 2018.
The awards recognise and reward the achievements of businesses in commercial horticulture and related industries and are supported by industry sponsors including the NFU.
The shortlist has been drawn up by experts including representatives from academia, industry, professional and charity sectors and the winners will be announced at a reception and presentation at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on the 28 June.
Tong Garden Centre co-owner Mark Farnsworth said: “It’s a credit to the team at Tong, who have worked exceptionally hard to implement huge changes, that we’ve reached the final of this national competition in not one, but three categories.
“Exceptional service in all areas underpins everything we do at Tong and it’s very rewarding that our efforts to achieve service excellence have been recognised nationally.”
Horticulture Week editor Kate Lowe said: “Many congratulations to all our finalists on reaching the shortlist – and a huge thank you to all our entrants for the time and energy they put into their entries for the inaugural Horticulture Week Business Awards 2018.
“We launched the Business Awards to honour, support and showcase to key stakeholders the extraordinary work and achievements of businesses operating in all corners of the UK horticulture industry today.
“The high quality of entries in this inaugural year speaks volumes about the talent, commitment, prowess and resilience of professionals leading today’s best horticultural enterprises.”
