Chefs join forces for special event

The highly-acclaimed Le Cochon Aveugle at Walmgate, York, is planning a number of events which will each feature a renowned chef, who will share the cooking with owner Josh Overington.

Kicking off the series on Saturday will be Steve Smith of The Freemasons at Wiswell in the Ribble Valley, which has won a whole host of awards including the 2017 AA Restaurant of the Year, as well as being named the number one pub in The Good Food Guide for the past three years.

Diners will be able to enjoy a one-off tasting menu prepared by both chefs, who will introduce the courses and talk to guests about what they have prepared.

“I am absolutely delighted that we’re starting our guest chef nights with someone like Steve,” said Josh.

“It will be a great opportunity for guests to get a real flavour of both of our styles of cooking and also get the chance chat to both of us during the course of the evening.

“Steve is an excellent chef so hopefully this will be a really memorable evening.”

Tickets for the event are £60 per person for the one-off tasting menu which will only be available on this one evening.

Other events taking place as part of the series are chef Andrew Dargue from top London vegetarian restaurant, Vanilla Black, who will be cooking on July 1, using products from Le Cochon’s vegetable producer, Ken Holland.

Le Cochon Aveugle has won widespread praise for its imaginative tasting menu, which changes regularly, depending on the ingredients chef Josh has available.

It draws its inspiration from French cuisine to create a menu full of surprises and originality.
