Family-run Yorkshire HR firm secures three-year contract with global discount goods supplier

Howarths will provide on-site health and safety compliance at Overseas Trading Limited's 50,000 square foot warehouse in Castleford

A family-run HR, employment law and health and safety firm based in Yorkshire, has secured a three-year contract to work with one of the UK’s leading global discount goods suppliers.

Howarths People and Safety Management has been appointed by Overseas Trading Limited (OTL) to provide on-site health and safety compliance at OTL’s 50,000 square foot warehouse in Castleford.

The firm supplies discounted food and non-food products to retailers, wholesalers and independent stores across the UK, and has offices in China and elsewhere in Europe.

Howarths will support OTL with areas including ongoing risk assessments, machinery maintenance checks and implementation of safe working practices for more than 50 staff.

OTL finance director Phil Jennings said: “We don’t compromise on quality or safety and work hard to ensure that we comply with all relevant legislation, so our customers and consumers can be confident in the products they buy.

“Working with the team at Howarths will ensure that we can continue to fulfil all aspects of an increasing health and safety legislation workload as the company continues to grow internationally.”

Howarths managing director Gavin Howarth, said: “The environments in which OTL staff operate naturally require strict levels of health and safety compliance that can be somewhat complex and time consuming.

“Our job now is to work with the team at OTL to help them reach high levels of compliance across their organisation.”
