A Yorkshire HR, employment law and health and safety firm has triumphed at a national awards ceremony recognising the contribution family-run businesses make to the UK economy.
Howarths People and Safety Management won the Family Business of the Year award at the 2018 National Family Business Awards at Wembley Stadium.
The firm also scooped the Big Heart award, recognising its work through its independent charity, The Howarth Foundation, which the family set up in 2017 to assist homeless and recently rehomed individuals from across Leeds and Kirklees back into employment.
Howarths, which marked its fifteenth year in business in June, was established in 2003 by chairman Andy Howarth and wife, Helen. It is now run by their son, Gavin, who is managing director.
Gavin Howarth said: “Over the last 15 years, we’ve grown Howarths based on our family values of trust, respect, honesty and integrity, which our clients understand and respect.
“To win this national award at Wembley in our anniversary year is a fantastic way to round-off the celebrations and honour the hard work and dedication from every single person involved in the business.”
The firm, based in Cleckheaton, counts national brands including high-street footwear retailer, Moda in Pelle, and home of Huddersfield Town Football Club, the John Smith’s Stadium, among its client roster.
The National Family Business Awards, previously the Red Ribbon Awards, is the UK and Ireland’s only awards scheme dedicated to family-run businesses. From small, local retailers, to large manufacturing firms; the NFBAs publicise their achievements and create opportunities for business growth.
