North Yorkshire developer, Newby, has sponsored last weekend’s York Race meeting to coincide with the company’s tenth business milestone.
Founded in 2008 by Nick Moody and Simon Hepden, Newby marked ten years of design, development and construction work creating luxury residential homes and apartments across Yorkshire with The Newby Races.
In recognition of the company’s achievements, the feature race was named The Ryedale House Garrowby Stakes after key York-based development, Ryedale House. This major regeneration project by Newby will see the regeneration of a former 1970’s office block into much needed high quality accommodation.
The race day also celebrated the pipeline development of Newby’s Cocoa West scheme, which with planning approval pending with the City of York Council, will see 425 new homes and apartments delivered on a brownfield site to the west of the former Nestle factory buildings on Haxby Road in York.
Over the last ten years, Newby has invested hugely in the expertise and skills of its people and now boasts a 26-strong team with a diverse range of experience and talents to support the company’s growth vision.
Newby also created its own in-house construction division in 2015 – Newby Developments – which allows the company to operate as the main contractor on each scheme, giving greater control and flexibility as well as better management.
Newby director Simon Hepden said: “Seeing so many of our developments brought to life from disused, abandoned old sites adapted into regeneration projects of high design and quality is something we are very pleased to have achieved over the last ten years. Both Nick and I really appreciate the hard work and perseverance that goes into regenerating old, listed buildings into new living and commercial spaces.
“We have always placed a huge focus on a collaborative approach to each development which is achieved through working closely with local councils and businesses, as well as local communities. This shared approach has enabled us to facilitate the development of each of our sites into a variety of residential opportunities across Yorkshire.”
Newby director Nick Moody said: “We are incredibly proud of what the business has achieved over the last ten years and to hit this significant business milestone in our growth plans.
“As well as the success of our collaborative working approach, one of our biggest achievements is the time invested in developing our employees into a strong, vibrant and effective team of industry professionals.
“Without them we wouldn’t be able to deliver our growing portfolio from acquisition through to launch. We have many exciting projects ahead of us and the company as a whole looks forward to what the next ten years will bring.”
