One of the UK’s favourite lifestyle leisure brands, Weird Fish, is celebrating after its Scarborough store has been shortlisted in the prestigious Drapers Awards for the ‘Best Store Design’ category.
The Weird Fish Scarborough store opened its doors to customers in August 2017. With an approximate ground floor sales area of 1,200 square ft, the shop features the traditional bright and contemporary Weird Fish store fit, but was designed with a new twist.
The design brought the outdoors inside with a nautical theme, tranquil colours and elements of greenery.
Celebrating its 28th anniversary, the Drapers Awards are the most highly respected awards in fashion retailing, recognising the top performing and most innovative businesses in the industry.
The Drapers ‘Best Store Design’ Award recognises a retail store with a truly outstanding design or redesign, and visual merchandising offer.
As part of the process, judges looked at the design concept from conception to execution, determining whether the design represented good investment for the business, whether the design was visually creative, easy to navigate and appropriate for target customers, examined how innovative the concept was and what made it stand out from competitors. The category was open to multiple retailers and department stores.
John Stockton, managing director at Weird Fish, said: “As a company, we worked incredibly hard to bring our Scarborough store to life, so it’s really rewarding to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award. Weird Fish is up against some brilliant and well-established brands, and we’re thrilled to be shortlisted.”
