Art exhibition at York’s Pairings Wine Bar

After receiving over 80 expressions of interests from artists and photographers from across Yorkshire, , Castlegate will be exhibiting the work of artists and at their venue until 7 January 2019

Inspiring and uplifting, both artists’ work demonstrates the beauty of the man-made and natural environment which surrounds us.

Greg Winrow trained in Art and Photography and became interested in Printmaking after attending a workshop in Newcastle. He works from his studio at home and splits his time between Lino and Silk Screen Printing. He tends to use the reduction technique for his Lino work and has recently been inspired by the local architecture of York.

Greg said: “It’s a great privilege to be able to exhibit at ‘Pairings,’ not only for the tremendous exposure this opportunity has given me but also to exhibit in a venue I regularly frequent.”

Fellow artist, Rebecca Jayne trained at where she studied a B Ed in Fine Art. She now lives in Thirsk, with her family. Her inspiration comes from the beauty and healing element of nature.

She likes to spend time outdoors observing the changes with the seasons, which motivates her to capture the uplifting energy of the natural world which is transferred into her paintings.

Rebecca said: “I am so happy to be able to exhibit my oil paintings which capture the spirit of nature with a twist within Yorkshire at Pairings Wine Bar! A fabulous forward-thinking venue and backdrop which sets off the vibrant colours and style perfectly.”

A spokesperson from Pairings Wine Bar said: “We’ll be shortly celebrating three years in business and wanted to bring in regular art exhibitions to celebrate this momentous occasion. We’ll be changing the space every three months so that a wide range of artists can exhibit their work here at Pairings Wine Bar.

“We’re passionate about offering a space which everyone can enjoy and by bringing art into the venue it offers that extra little special something to the space. Already we’re seeing guests coming into Pairings specifically to view the art, which we’re thrilled to see.”

The art exhibited will showcase a mixture of oil paintings, silk prints and lino designs, and work on display is for sale and can be purchased directly from the artist. Greg’s work is being exhibited in the bar area, whilst Rebecca’s designs are being showcased on the artist corridor on the lower ground floor. Greg and Rebecca’s exhibition will run until 7 January 2019.

Pairings Wine Bar is open to view the art on display on Sunday to Thursday noon–11pm and Friday and Saturday 11am–midnight.
