Independent retailer, Barker and Stonehouse, has donated several pieces of furniture to a very worthy cause; children’s cancer charity, Candlelighters.
From funded holidays to a cup of tea and a chat, Candlelighters is a charity that provides help and support to families affected by children’s cancer in Yorkshire. It has recently renovated The Candlelighters Cottage, a home away from home accommodation for families of children treated for cancer at Leeds Children’s Hospital.
Keen to offer its support, Barker and Stonehouse has donated a stylish sofa and chair set for the living room area of the cottage, which will be open to families from the end of this month.
Emily Wragg, charity director at Candlelighters said: “When a family receives the diagnosis that their child has cancer, their world is turned upside down in an instant and so enabling the family to stay together close by whilst their child is in hospital receiving treatment is crucial.
“The comfy seating provided by Barker and Stonehouse for our Candlelighters Cottage has enabled us to provide a warm and welcoming space for families where they can sit and relax during an incredibly stressful time.
“Candlelighters is extremely grateful to Barker and Stonehouse in supporting this project; the donation has contributed to us being able to make an incredible difference to the families we support.”
