The festival, now in its 32nd year, takes place until November 15 at venues around The Headrow, including Leeds Town Hall, Leeds Art Gallery, Millennium Square, Vue at the Light, City Varieties, Waterstones and Headrow House, plus Everyman cinema and Hyde Park Picture House.
LIFF is a leading, annual cultural event and the largest of its kind in the North of England, attracting in excess of 40,000 people. Over 300 screenings and events will take place at 30 venues across Leeds, including independent and multi-screen cinemas, concert and music halls, art and community centres, universities and colleges.
Andrew Wilson, senior investment director and head of Brooks Macdonald’s York office, said: “We are delighted to once again sponsor Leeds International Film Festival.
“This year’s festival is a true celebration of global filmmaking culture with an incredible choice of 350 feature films, documentaries and shorts from 60 countries across five major programme sections.
“The festival is open to all film explorers and continuously reveals new talent. As a leading cultural event in the North of England we are very proud of our partnership with LIFF.”
LIFF is one of only 26 film festivals in the world which are qualifying events for both the Oscars and the BAFTAs.
