Hull based safety specialist Arco has raised over £15,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support following a week-long program of fundraising activity, including its ever popular raffle and celebrated bake off.
The bake off, which took place at Arco’s Head Office in Hull, saw renowned chef James Mackenzie, of Michelin-starred Gastropub, The Pipe and Glass in South Dalton, preside over the judging.
Arco employees were challenged with putting their baking skills to the test to create a culinary masterpiece before they were judged under the categories of best tasting, best decoration and best overall bake. Following judging, the cakes were auctioned off and the proceeds collected for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The charity raffle offered Arco staff the opportunity to buy tickets to win a wide array of prizes that had been donated by their key suppliers such as gift experiences, hampers and vouchers. I
n collaboration with BMW Stratstone, team members at Arco’s Customer Engagement Centre also held a charity car wash and valet to raise additional funds for the charity. Additional activity included support of the Macmillan’s green branding by encouraging staff to wear green for a day and the staff restaurant serving green themed food.
Karen Narey, campaign manager for Arco, said: “We have supported Macmillan for the past 13 years and the team always look forward to helping out and getting involved. This year’s total of £15,313 is extremely impressive so I would like to thank everyone at Arco for getting involved and helping raise vital funds for the cancer charity.”
