Leeds-based Blacks Solicitors LLP has been busy celebrating raising £10,000 in 2018 for its charity of the year, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.
The Team arranged a series of events throughout the year to raise money for the cause, including bingo nights, a summer fete, and a “rowathon” attended by friends of the Firm. Five members of staff also ran the York Vale Half Marathon in September 2018 to fundraise.
The funds raised by Blacks will ensure babies and children born with a heart problem in Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire have the best possible care, and it will also help their families in whatever way needed during their stay in hospital.
Georgie Abbott, corporate partnerships manager at CHSF, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the support of the Team at Blacks. They’ve raised an amazing amount for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, and it will help us to continue supporting babies and children born with a heart problem in Yorkshire.
We’ve really enjoyed working with the Team who helped make this happen, from a competitive rowing event to a summer family day, it’s been great to see them enjoying lots of different fundraising activities. They always have a smile on their faces and their amazing fundraising efforts will make a huge difference to our patients and their families.”
As well as Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, Blacks also made donations to causes including the Getaway Girls, the RSPCA Leeds branch, and Leeds Dads.
The firm plans to continue its fundraising efforts into 2019, announcing its main charity partner as Leeds Mind.
Nicholas Dyson, partner in the CSR team at Blacks, said: “We are so proud to have met our fundraising target for the year and to be supporting such an important cause to help children with heart problems in our local community.
“We are looking forward to arranging more fundraising activities in 2019 for our chosen charity, Leeds Mind. Our staff selected this charity because mental health is an issue that is increasingly prevalent and it’s an area that we, at Blacks, are looking to really open up the conversation around.”
Over the next 12 months Blacks will raise money for Leeds Mind and other charities with several fundraising events including a bake sale and tombola, Yorkshire Three Peaks and a 30km walk.
