The IoD has extended the entry deadline for its Director of the Year Awards to May 2.
The move will enable more individuals from Yorkshire and the North East to put themselves in contention of winning one of the coveted awards.

The winners go through to the national Director of the Year UK finals in London.
Keith Jackson, chairman of the IoD in South Yorkshire, was named the UK’s top Mid-Market director in 2016. He said: “These prestigious awards recognise individuals who meet the highest standards of leadership in business, the public and third sectors.
“We are looking forward to celebrating their business success and the inspiration they provide for other company directors across Yorkshire and the North East.”
The categories are:
Director of the Year – Non-Executive
Director of the Year – Innovation
Director of the Year – Young
Director of the Year – Public/Third Sector
Director of the Year – Family Business
Director of the Year – Inclusivity
Director of the Year – Corporate Social Responsibility
Director of the Year – Start-Up
Director of the Year – Small-Medium Business (up to £50 million turnover)
Director of the Year – Large Business (more than £50 million turnover)
Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Director and Board Practice
The judging panel will be chaired by Simon Walton, managing partner at Berwick Partners, Leeds.
