Businesses in East Yorkshire are being encouraged to take part in the county’s muddiest challenge for charity.
Dove House Hospice is looking for people who are prepared to tackle five miles of obstacles on a course in the stunning grounds of Sledmere House, near Driffield, this summer.
It’s the only event of its kind in the area and everyone who takes part will be rewarded for their efforts with a cake on the finishing line.
Anita Brien, events coordinator for Dove House Hospice, said: “‘Get Caked!’ is the perfect challenge for companies to take part in this June.
“We want teams from businesses large and small to sign-up for the chance to climb over, jump through and crawl under natural and man-made obstacles.
“People can compete against each other or work together as a group which makes it brilliant for colleagues to take on, as it’s not about how fast you can go, it’s about taking on the course and getting really muddy!”
Entry is just £25 per person and those taking part need to try to raise at least £50 in sponsorship for the hospice.
“Teams might decide to co-operate to get around the course and could therefore introduce a competitive element to the challenge through trying to raise as much sponsorship per person as possible,” said Anita.
“These types of events have become really popular across the country over the last few years so this is a great opportunity for people to have a go at one that’s right on their doorstep.
“It’s also a muddy challenge that is very much about having fun so we’re expecting people to enjoy a lot of laughs as they move through the miles towards the finish line where their medal and cake will be waiting for them.”
Dove House Hospice provides care for people with life-limiting illnesses with its team of nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants and therapists working with patients as individuals.
The hospice delivers physical, social, psychological and spiritual support, embracing both patients and their friends and families with warmth, understanding and friendship.
Though maintained by some Government funding, the majority of Dove House’s running costs are raised in the local community, meaning there is no charge for any of the hospice’s services.
Get Caked! takes place at Sledmere House on Sunday, June 23. There are staggered start times of 10am, 11am and noon. It costs £25 to take part and every participant will receive a T-shirt as well as a medal and a cake on the finishing line.
Get Caked! can be completed solo or as a group but everyone taking part must raise at least £50 in sponsorship. To reserve a place, register online here.
