Nationwide Rural Diversification, Planning and Development specialists Rural Solutions has made two key appointments.
Dawn Mercer joins as a senior consultant based in Oxfordshire and Richard Baldwin joins as associate director at the company’s headquarters in Skipton. Both will be part of the growing advisory team.
Dawn comes to Rural Solutions from Vision XS, a visitor experience company specialising in leisure and tourism, where she has spent the last eight years working closely with clients to create development strategies and accompanying business plans for leisure and tourism operators and land-owners looking to diversify.

Having been lucky enough to live in the Countryside my entire life, it is something that is of great importance to me and I’m extremely excited to be able to use my leisure and tourism knowledge with Rural Solutions to spearhead positive strategies for our clients, whilst also having an impact on the shape of the countryside for the future.”
Richard comes from the hotels and leisure department of Avison Young, a global real estate firm, and has amassed an impressive 22 years’ worth of general practice leisure property experience. Specialising in trading entities throughout the UK, he has worked on a broad number of projects in a wide variety of sub sectors including day visitor attractions, accommodation projects, golf and sporting facilities.
Richard Baldwin, associate director at Rural Solutions, said: “Living in the Yorkshire Dales, I am passionate about the countryside and ensuring everyone has the chance to not only experience it, but also appreciate and get the most out of it. I’m thrilled to be joining Rural Solutions, with the opportunity to apply my extensive leisure and property knowledge into the evolving rural sector.”
