The launch of an adult care home in Hull is set to create more than 50 jobs across a range of roles over the next 12 months.

Exemplar Health Care’s St Andrew’s Court home will open in September, with work well underway to prepare for residents’ arrival in just over four months.

The specialist adult nursing home, situated on Wheeler Street, was formerly a 34-bed elderly care home, with Exemplar refurbishing the site to meet the requirements of new residents. The refurbishment will create 20 specially designed bedrooms and the care provider is looking for healthcare professionals and domestic staff to join its team ahead of the opening in autumn 2019.

St Andrew’s Court will provide specialist nurse-led care for adults with a range of complex nursing needs, including dementia, mental health conditions, brain injury, stroke and neuro-disabilities. The home is currently recruiting for a home manager, nurses, domestic staff and a skills facilitator with the care provider encouraging local residents to apply for the roles via their website.

Exemplar has also revealed that following its acquisition of the home, they have employed 13 colleagues who were originally employed by the building’s former owners, Sanctuary Home. The 13 individuals have obtained roles within care support, administration, catering and domestic teams.

Selina Wall, Exemplar’s senior dDirector of Operations, said: “This is a great opportunity to be part of our brand-new home in Hull, particularly for medical professionals wanting to move away from hospital life in the region to a more holistic care environment. It’s a really exciting time and a chance for a new team to help shape the service we will offer.

“We’re lucky to be joining such a lovely community. We’ve already introduced residents from our other homes to the area through events at Rainbow Children’s Centre and we’re excited to work with the community more over the coming months.”
