Harrogate’s Majestic Hotel hosts country’s leading meetings and events industry agents

A Harrogate hotel has played host to the country’s leading meetings and events industry agents.

The event, organised by the Meetings Industry Association and attended by 120 delegates, was held at The Majestic Hotel – which is to become the town’s first DoubleTree by Hilton next month following the completion of a £15 million programme of investment.

“Agents Days” are designed to provide a platform for a wide range of industry professionals to network with top agents, with the Harrogate event featuring panel discussions, industry updates and a team-building treasure hunt around the streets of the North Yorkshire spa town.

The night before, a gala dinner was held in one the Majestic’s recently refurbished meeting rooms, allowing the kitchen brigade to prepare dishes from the newly designed banqueting menus.

Attendee Amanda Jackson, owner of Cleveland-based Hospitality Guaranteed Ltd, said: “What a fantastic way to showcase the venue. Amazing food, great facilities and chandeliers to die for.”

Gillian Venning, the Majestic Hotel’s sales and marketing director, said: “This was a superb opportunity for us to showcase our newly refurbished facilities to some of the country’s leading meetings and events industry specialists, and it could not have come at a better time for us.

“The delegates were able to see for themselves the extent of the investment and the fantastic facilities we now proudly boast. And the comments coming back to us from them are second to none.

“The Majestic Hotel has been at the heart of Harrogate’s important conference trade for decades. In just a few weeks it’s going to begin a new chapter in its long and proud history when it officially becomes The DoubleTree by Hilton Harrogate Majestic Hotel and Spa.”

The £15m programme of investment comprises of a full refurbishment of its reception, public areas, 14 meeting, event and function suites, and 184 guest bedrooms.

The new look Majestic Hotel is now home to “Fredericks Bar and Piano Lounge”, a beautifully transformed new venue serving everything from specialty coffees through to amazing cocktails.

Additionally, “Carters Champagne Bar and Grill” is a destination restaurant in the old ballroom, which is set to attract a host of new clientele to the venue.

Running alongside the hotel refurbishment by owners, The Cairn Group, is the redevelopment of its former leisure club into The Harrogate Spa.

When completed, this state-of-the-art facility will boast 12.5m indoor pool and six treatment rooms, two of which are double.

It will offer a range of therapeutic thermal experiences, including a spa pool, Himalayan salt sauna, steam room, Rasul, experience shower and ice fountain.

In addition, there will be a tranquil relaxation lounge leading out to a Zen and Courtyard spa garden, spa café and terrace, fully equipped gym and studio.
