First Richmondshire Business Week launched

Richmondshire’s first ever business week has opened.

Business Week is aimed at both established companies and start-ups with a series of free workshops on offer to help support and grow them.

Delivered by the District Council, Business Week – from October 7 to 11 – covers everything from the identification of new market and public sector supply chain opportunities, compliance and cyber security to how to attract and retain talent.

Experts from B2B North, Department of Industry and Trade, North Yorkshire County Council’s Trading Standards Team, Welcome to Yorkshire and the Local Enterprise Partnership and successful local entrepreneurs will be delivering sessions in locations across the district.

Launched by key speaker Baroness Harris, a life peer and Deputy Speaker in the House of Lords, who is a great advocate of apprenticeships, the day offered advice on recruitment and retention of staff, wider employment opportunities, apprenticeships and internships. There was also a business expo with leading business support services available to speak to businesses about their offer.

“Thank you to all the businesses and support services who attended the launch event,” said Council leader Angie Dale.

“It was fascinating to hear how much support is out there for businesses to help them employ the best talent. I am looking forward to the rest of the week’s events. A variety of different topics will be covered throughout the week so don’t miss out, make sure you book a place.”

The week continues with workshops and one to one sessions in procurement and contracting, Brexit, creating an accessible business, growing an international market and developing a tourism business, cyber security and developing a food business.
