Eight of Yorkshire’s leading forces-friendly employers have been honoured with special awards at a ceremony attended by all four of the region’s HM Lord-Lieutenants.
In a mark of the significance placed on their achievements, the presentation was the only event in the entire ceremonial calendar attended by all four of Yorkshire’s HM Lord-Lieutenants – HM Lord-Lieutenants of South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
HM Lord-Lieutenants were joined by representatives of each of the UK’s Armed Forces to honour organisations who have achieved a Silver Award in the Government’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. The award is for employers that go the extra mile to give reservists, cadet force adult volunteers and veterans a fair deal.
HM Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire Ed Anderson said: “Reservists, cadet force adult volunteers and veterans make a huge contribution to businesses across the region and it’s fantastic to be able to acknowledge the support that these employers give back in return.”
The winning organisations were:
- Bradford District Care Foundation Trust
- Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust
- Humberside Fire and Rescue Service
- North Lincolnshire Council
- Software Box Ltd (SBL)
- Irwin Mitchell
