The founder and managing director of Leeds-based PR agency, MacComms is set to host a session at Leeds Trinity University as part of the institution’s Journalism and Media Week.
Ellie MacDonald will give a talk at the event entitled ‘Building a business to be PRoud of’ to up to 80 students on Tuesday.
The university’s Journalism and Media Week, now in its eleventh year, will welcome a total of 40 industry experts over the week, representing the UK’s leading broadcasters, newspapers, magazines and digital media experts.
Ellie’s talk will give a “warts and all” account of the challenges faced over her decade working in PR and marketing and the pitfalls and opportunities she has faced since forming her business in 2015.
Since inception, MacComms has supported more than 100 firms with their PR and communications, several of which have been start-up firms which have grown significantly and scaled-up their businesses using PR.
MacComms’ founder and managing director Ellie MacDonald said: “It’s an honour to be invited to speak alongside some of the country’s leading industry experts at Leeds Trinity University’s Journalism and Media Week. With more young entrepreneurs setting up on their own I will share my story about how I set up my firm with my last few hundred pound savings and built it into the leading Leeds agency it has become over the past four years.”
