city is “stronger together” as business community enjoys Leeds lunch

More than 500 professionals attended the Yorkshire Mafia’s (YM) annual Leeds Business Lunch and Big Drinks Evening.

As the biggest lunch event to take place in the city, this year’s Leeds Business Lunch saw partner venue Bibis Italianissimo reach its capacity, with delegates taking a seat, before enjoying a two-course lunch and impressive speaker line-up.

Taking to the stage, Sinead Rocks, managing director Nations and Regions at Channel 4; Eve Roodhouse, chief officer Economic Development at Leeds City Council; and Richard Flint, former CEO at Sky Betting and Gaming,  addressed the audience to share their insight and future predictions for the Leeds City Region.

Geoff Shepherd, chairman and founder of the Yorkshire Mafia, said: “Our lunch was everything that we’d hoped it to be – relaxed, enjoyable and fun. Most importantly, it was also productive!

“People like to unwind, and that’s great, however we are all about making things happen. Over the years we’ve built the lunch to bring the perfect balance; an informal gathering that creates meaningful connections.

“With a business community of more than 22,000 individuals, it is great to see people meet in person, as well as through our LinkedIn group.”

Seven years on, the occasion remains as popular as ever. Selling out quickly year after year, demand for tickets this year was at an all-time high, with enquiries continuing to be received long after tables had officially sold out.

Geoff added: “If there was a venue big enough, we could sell the tickets twice over – that’s how popular this event has become.

“We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved with Leeds Business Lunch. The calibre of speakers that we attract, the loyalty of those who attend and the excitement that the day generates year-on-year proves all that we’ve been saying from the start – we really are stronger together!”

Following an enjoyable afternoon of relationship building, delegates were invited to continue building their networks at Leeds Big Drinks Evening, which took place at Chaophraya.

Attracting over 200 additional guests, the event delivered drinks, canapes and further opportunity for attendees to meet a range of professionals from the wider business community.

Janie Gonsalez, business development executive at the Yorkshire Mafia, said: “We’re thrilled with the success of both events and want to thank all those who attended for their ongoing support. The feedback that we’ve received has been fantastic; we’re already looking forward to what’s in store for next year!”
