New Director General to address IoD dinner

Jon Geldart

The Institute of Directors’ new Director General Jon Geldart will address its North Yorkshire dinner in January.

Jon has spent 30 years working in the professional services sector, most recently at Grant Thornton International, where he served on the global board prior to becoming responsible for the organisation’s interests in China.

Jon was chairman of the IoD’s Yorkshire and North East region until his appointment as Director General. He was also chairman of the North Yorkshire branch.

The annual North Yorkshire black-tie dinner takes place on 23 January 2020 at Rudding Park hotel, Harrogate and will be themed around Burns Night.

Guests will also hear from Yorkshire businesswoman Judith Donovan, CBE. Judith founded her own marketing agency – JDA – in 1982 after nine years as a graduate employee in marketing in both London and Yorkshire.

She was one of the first female entrepreneurs in Yorkshire and was recognised as such with awards for ‘Yorkshire Business Woman of the Year’ and ‘Yorkshire Woman of the Year’.

In 2000 Judith sold JDA to her managers and embarked on a public sector and non-executive director career. Her current roles include chair of Ripon Cathedral Council; chair, Advisory Board, National Science and Media Museum; and chair of Yorkshire Dales National Park Tourism Group.

The North Yorkshire dinner will be co-hosted by Charles Runcie, former Head of BBC Sport, and Natalie Sykes, IoD Regional Director. Entertainment will be provided by Soul Sensation singer Cris Quammie.

Jon Geldart said: “Our North Yorkshire dinner is the perfect way to start a new year of IoD events and networking. It provides a great opportunity for colleagues to meet up and make new acquaintances while enjoying the splendid surroundings of Rudding Park.”

Tickets are available at an Early Bird rate until 30 November and start from £56 for members and £70 for non-members with tables of ten from £550. To book, email or book at
