The TV chef launched it as an assault on Sheffield’s pub chains and now the new owners of the restaurant he famously transformed have brought it back – with a few surprises of their own.

Arundel Street’s Silversmiths – which appeared on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmare’s programme – unveiled a brand new Tuesday evening pie menu cooked up by their head chef, Ashley Bagshaw.

The 23-year-old rising star of the culinary world is renowned for his flair and has been putting his own stamp on the age old recipe.

Everything from smoked brisket to veggie Balti is now on the pie menu with bottles of Sheffield’s own Henderson’s Relish served as standard.

Silversmiths was re-opened a few weeks ago by local businessmen Rick Bailey and Matt Ray.

Ashley Bagshaw said: “I want to make Silversmiths the best eatery in Sheffield – no question. I like to be challenged. I love creating something that turns heads.

“But we want to make the restaurant accessible and the pie night was hugely popular so we’ve decided to bring it back.”

The new Silversmiths menu also offers a number of additional grill dishes all cooked on a Konro BBQ grill.

Matt Ray has held senior positions at Gatecrasher, Bloo88 and Soyo. Rick Bailey runs the 150-strong IPM Group. He recently launched the thriving FirePit rock/sports bar on West Street.
