Ripon charity to operate environmentally-friendly Christmas tree disposal service

With Christmas just around the corner, a Ripon charity is putting the finishing touches to its environmentally-friendly tree collection and disposal service.

Ripon Community Link – which sells a variety of Christmas gifts, trees and wreaths throughout December at Ripon Walled Garden to support the delivery and development of its services for adults with learning difficulties – will collect trees from those living in and around the city.

The cost for this, which sees the trees being used for fencing at its Ripon Walled Garden, or chipped and recycled, is a minimum donation of £5 for those within a five-mile radius and £10 for those living between five and 15 miles away.

Victoria Ashley, Ripon Community Link chief executive, said: “Our Christmas Tree collection service proved very popular last Christmas as it takes the hassle out of the post-Christmas clear up. For a small donation, we’ll collect your tree which will save you a trip to the tip.

“All of the funds raised are used to support the delivery and development of our services for people with learning disabilities at our two sites, St Wilfrid’s Bungalow and Ripon Walled Garden.

“The trees we collect are all put to good use at our Walled Garden. All people need to do is give us a call and we will do the rest.”

Collections can be booked by calling 01765 609229 or by emailing admin@riponwalledgarden.org . Please note the Walled Garden will be closed from Tuesday, December 24, until Thursday, January 2. But either email or leave a message on the answerphone.
