Digital marketing agency Engage Interactive has been awarded a District Chief Superintendent’s Commendation by West Yorkshire Police for its outstanding contribution to communities in Leeds.
The District Chief Superintendent’s Commendation is awarded to individuals and organisations to recognise outstanding performance where services and achievements are clearly exceptional.
Engage has donated over one thousand office hours to create “Super Stars”, an app for Harehills-based CATCH. The community charity works to improve local communities in Leeds and make a positive difference to the lives of young people.
The app awards badges to users once they’ve completed different tasks, in areas such as team-work, community safety, leadership and social action to name a few, which develop their skills in order to increase employability and open doors to new opportunities.
The award was presented to acknowledge Engage’s significant contribution towards community safety and improvement by encouraging young people to become more confident and open up opportunities that may otherwise have been unavailable.
Alex Willcocks, Co-owner at Engage, said: “I’m passionate about seeing what can be achieved when the private sector works alongside the third sector to make a measurable difference in the communities in which we work. It’s an honour to receive such a prestigious award and I’m so proud of the hard work and dedication shown by everyone involved at Engage.
“As a business we have the resources to support organisations like CATCH and it means a lot to have been a part of something that has created change for the better.”
Leeds District Chief Superintendent Steve Cotter presented the award. He said: “It’s brilliant to recognise local businesses like Engage for the work they do supporting communities across Leeds. Engage’s app is a brilliant example of how we can engage and support young people through an innovative approach.”
Engage hopes its ongoing involvement with CATCH through ‘Super Stars’ and the Elympics programme will help young people continue to achieve new accomplishments.
