York Hotel hosts dinner and whisky tasting event with Yorkshire’s first whisky distillery

The team at Yorkshire’s first whisky distillery is teaming up with an historic York hotel for an evening of fine dining and whisky tasting next month.

On Friday, February 7, Middlethorpe Hall will host a three course dinner and whisky tasting in conjunction with Hunmanby based Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, home of Filey Bay single malt whisky.

Guests will enjoy a Filey Bay cocktail or Prosecco reception and a three course dinner before tasting Filey Bay and cask samples from Spirit of Yorkshire’s warehouse.

Spirit of Yorkshire’s Whisky director Joe Clark, who will be leading the tasting, said: “Filey Bay started life as barley growing in the fields at our farm on the top of the Yorkshire Wolds back in 2015. The barley was transformed into spirit in 2016, and after three and half years maturing, it is now yours to enjoy at this unique event.

“In addition to a sensational  three course dinner in beautiful surroundings, you will be tasting  some one-off and special cask samples that offer a unique and unrepeatable glimpse into our warehouse as our spirit edges ever closer to our Flagship single malt whisky.”

Middlethorpe Hall’s sales and marketing manager, Nicola Thresh, said: “Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery has created Yorkshire’s first single malt whisky and we’re delighted to welcome Joe back to Middlethorpe Hall to  guide the tasting and explain what makes Filey Bay different. It promises to be a fantastic evening.”

Tickets cost £99.00 and include a welcome drink, a three  course dinner created by Head Chef Ashley Binder, wines and whisky samples. They are available online at http://bit.ly/38qvmHy, by calling Julia Betteridge on 01904 661301 or emailing j.betteridge@middlethorpe.com .
