Decade of success for Hatmill with strong growth and new joiners

Yorkshire-based supply chain and logistics consultancy Hatmill is celebrating a decade of growth and a host of new joiners to the team.

Hatmill is a supply chain and logistics consultancy that works with clients to deliver improvements to their forecasting, warehouses, transport and inventory. Founder Simon Dixon set up Hatmill in 2009 to provide clients with hands-on practical help with their supply chain problems.

He’d previously led PwC’s logistics consulting team and gained industry experience at Asda Wal*Mart. Initially established to allow Simon to work as an independent consultant, by 2011 he was turning down work, so he decided to scale the business. Now

Ten years on, the team is over 20 strong and has grown consistently at a rate of around 45 per cent per year.

Well respected industry experts Terry Murphy, Andy Smith and Joe Metcalfe have recently joined the firm from the likes of John Lewis, along with mechanical engineering graduate Sam Hutt, to significantly boost its automation capability. Their industry expertise is second to none and their combined experience will be a huge boost to Hatmill’s clients.

Hatmill believes that all supply chains can be improved and it’s their goal to help clients do this to increase profitability and customer satisfaction. Hatmill helps clients make lasting improvements to their performance and delivers outstanding expertise, experience and value to their clients’ projects.

Clients include retailers, manufacturers and distributors including Sainsburys, Cummins, Wilko, Bestway, ASDA, Arco, Sony, Greggs, Universal Music and many more blue-chip brands. In end of project surveys, 100 per cent of clients would recommend Hatmill to others.

Hatmill’s growth plans include expanding overseas, particularly in the US as well as targeting the rail, construction and infrastructure sectors.

Hatmill isn’t your typical consultancy; their operating model is non-hierarchical – there’s no rank or job titles, no promotions. The entire team collaborate on strategy and self-manage when it comes to how they deliver for clients, something that has boosted staff retention, morale and wellbeing; they’ve attracted industry experts who are drawn by the culture.
