North Yorkshire hairdresser to the stars, Joseph Ferraro, has been rubbing shoulders with two of the world’s leading designers after getting a call up to work at London Fashion Week.
The Harrogate-based stylist, who has worked alongside pop superstar Robbie Williams and style supremo Gok Wan during his hairdressing career to date, was lead hairdresser in charge of a team of stylists working on luxury designer Aadnevik’s London catwalk show.
His latest London Fashion Week call-up – Joseph has styled hair at the famous fashion week for the past decade for designers Jasper Conran, Paul Smith, House of Holland to name but a few – came as a result of his role as Brand Ambassador for ethical hair care brand Authentic Beauty Concept.
“I felt really proud and honoured to have been part of the Aadnevik show – I’ve worked at London Fashion Week a number of times, but this was the first time I was the lead stylist, in charge of a team of hairdressers. The buck stopped with me when it came to the models’ hair – so there was a lot of pressure!
“It was incredibly exciting – Aadnevik is one of the top fashion labels worn by celebrities around the world including Beyonce – the clothes were stunning and the models’ hair and make-up had to match,” said Joseph.
Tickets to the Aadnevik show at London Fashion Week are highly sought-after by stylists and celebrities alike.
The duo behind the label are husband and wife team Hila and Kristian Aadnevik, originally from Norway, but now based in London. Their brand is synonymous with red carpet glamour as they’ve dressed the likes of Madonna, Beyonce, Halle Berry and Kendall Jenner.
Joseph, who has two hair salons in Harrogate on Leeds Road, and Cheltenham Parade, met the designer couple the day before the catwalk show, talking through the hair concept to compliment their ‘Urania’ themed runway show at The Royal Horseguards in London. Joseph and his team , including two of his Harrogate hairdressers, styled the 11 catwalk models’ hair into dramatic high ponytails.
Among those on the guest list at the luxury label’s catwalk show included Made in Chelsea star Kimberley Garner.
The former North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year added: “It was a real team effort. I was in charge of a team of six hairdressers, including two stylists from my Harrogate salons – there were 11 models, three clothes changes, and it was crazy backstage.
“The end results looked amazing – the clothes, the hair and the make-up. Everyone was delighted – and there was some fantastic positive press from the show. Our images were everywhere – we’re hoping to get involved with the designer’s Spring Summer 2021 show in the autumn.”
