A Harrogate-based resin driveway company is helping to ensure getting around a Yorkshire tourist attraction, which is on its doorstep, is both easier and safer for visitors and staff alike.
YRC Resin Drives of Distinction has completed a resin-bonded installation at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, located on the edge of the North Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate.
Each year, hundreds-of-thousands of visitors, including elderly and disabled visitors, make a beeline for the 58-acre garden – one of five run by the Royal Horticultural Society.
YRC, which was launched in 2007 by Mark Kennedy, was commissioned by RHS Harlow Carr to lay a new resin surface to a large section of pathway leading from the main entrance into the grounds themselves.
A resin-bonded solution was used. In the simplest of terms this means stone was married with resin and then ‘bonded’ to an existing pathway by hand by trained, installation technicians to ensure control and quality. The benefits include it being naturally aesthetic in keeping with the colour pallet of the gardens, anti-slip and low maintenance.
This high-profile scheme comes hot on heels of YRC completing a major project at the recently opened Grantley Hall Hotel & Spa, near Ripon, where it laid a new resin bound surface to the courtyard and front car park.
YRC MD Mark Kennedy said: “RHS Garden Harlow Carr is one of Yorkshire’s most popular outdoor tourist attractions, a jewel in the Harrogate crown, and we are very proud to add practical enhancement to this wonderful garden.
“Being a local company, we were delighted to install our Resiflex bonded system to this Harrogate institution. It is anti-slip, durable, child and wheelchair friendly. Importantly, for a garden of this stature, and one that is open all year, it is weed resistant too.”
Katherine Musgrove, Garden Manager for RHS Garden Harlow Carr, said: “When choosing a company to replace a section of footpath we took a number of factors into consideration, including price and recommendations.
“We are extremely happy with the quality of YRC’s work. They are a great team, efficient, polite and hardworking.”
