Hambleton pays out millions to support businesses in need

Hambleton District Council (HDC) is now paying out thousands of business grants in response to the Covid-19 crisis, with more than £11 million pounds worth paid out so far.

From Wednesday, March 25, businesses across Hambleton have been able to apply for the grants designed to help and support them during the most challenging of times, with an estimated 2800 businesses eligible.

So far, 1687 applications have been received with 58 per cent (976) already processed and almost all of these paid out before the weekend.

Our team are working hard to get through grant applications as quickly as possible with more grants being paid out every day.  We anticipate all grants which are straight forward to process, will be paid out by the end of next week.

Coun Mark Robson, Leader of HDC, said: “This is great news for Hambleton’s business community who’ve been hit hard during this crisis.  I hope it sends out a clear message; your council are behind you and will do everything possible to minimise the impact of Covid-19 on local businesses.

“The team are doing a fantastic job of working through the applications and really appreciate your support and understanding as they work to get through them all as quickly as possible.  You can help by making sure you have your business rates reference number handy.  This can be found on the demand notice posted out on 12th March and will help the team process your application quicker.”

I hope the grants go some way to helping and supporting our local businesses as we work through this unprecedented and challenging time together.”
