The Leeds Office of Northern Accountants launched “NA Gives”, a new initiative to raise funds for hospital charity, Leeds Cares, in support of Leeds Children’s Hospital.
Managing director Phil Ellerby whose three sons were all born at Leeds General Infirmary, was inspired to fundraise to help children in hospital and their families.
He said: “When I heard about young children who were approaching the end of their lives in isolation it broke my heart. Tragically this goes on every day but to have to go through this alone or without some of their ones is incomprehensible. “
Phil reached out with a compelling video to Northern Accountants’ 500 clients and associates across four offices, asking them to help young patients and their families having end of life care at this difficult time.
“As a father of three, I cannot even contemplate the situation these families are facing, and I knew something had to be done. Although whatever we achieve won’t be enough.”
The response to Northern Accountants appeal has been astonishing, and within a week of launching ‘NA Gives’ the company had surpassed their £5,000 target.
Sporting stars have also rallied around to support the charitable cause, including former Rugby League player Richard Mathers who is auctioning off his playing shirt from the 2004 Grand Final winning season to raise funds.
The generosity of Northern Accountants and their clients will help Leeds Cares fund memory boxes for families to keep cherished memories, and toys like modelling kits and iPads for children who are in isolation.
Laura Webb, interim head of Corporate Partnerships at Leeds Cares, said: “We’re delighted that Northern Accountants have chosen to raise funds for Leeds Cares in support of Leeds Children’s Hospital. Their contribution will make a huge difference to young patients and their families, particularly during this unprecedented time.”
Northern Accountants is committed to supporting Leeds Cares and have lots of exciting plans to raise funds for Leeds Children’s Hospital in the future, including golf days, 10k runs and more.
