Self-storage company Store First is lifeline to businesses impacted by corona

With staff on furlough or working from home, organisations around the country are having to close their office spaces.

While these policies have helped reduce the infection rate, they have left some businesses suffering with communication difficulties.

By providing free office and meeting room space to its customers, Store First has the answer.

Lanes Group PLC, an important contractor for Yorkshire Water, recently found itself in exactly that position. To protect its staff and help control the virus, it closed its offices, leaving managers with the logistical problem of coordinating their 60+ engineers without a centralised HQ.

Marc Bettison, Lanes PLC manager, said: “I originally came to Store First for a first aid training course. The instructor had rented a storage unit for all his kit and was using the free meeting rooms to organise and run the courses.”

“Later when COVID-19 hit, I encountered a challenge with everyone working from home, so I contacted Store First and explained the situation to them. Now we’re renting a small storage unit and it means we can use their shared office space and board room.”

“It’s given us back the hub we need to help with communication and coordination of our large team of contractors. Throughout the coronavirus restrictions we still need to get the team together a few times a week and this has given us the answer, plus I can also work from one of their socially distanced hot desks.”

Store First offers its customers everything they need to run a business from their facilities. Renting a storage space with Store First gets you access and use of conference facilities, board rooms, free WiFi, shared office space, even a kitchen.

Michael Crossley, Store First manager in Leeds, said: “When we were contacted by Marc Bettison, it was like a penny dropped. I realised that we can provide a lifeline to companies during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“You can have socially distanced meetings right here at Store First. We’ve got everything you need already in place: great motorway access for the M62 and M1, parking, WiFi, we’ve even got a gym and a kitchen.”
