Caedmon offer discounts to key workers at York development

Leading Yorkshire residential developer Caedmon Homes is offering discounts to key workers at its prestigious St John’s Mews development in York.

The development, which comprises 29 quality one, two and three-bed apartments, is already 55 per cent sold.

Key workers will be able to buy two-bedroom apartments at St John’s Mews, which range in prices from £295,000 to £360,000, at discounts of up to five per cent.

Paul Brown, director of Easingwold-based Caedmon, said: “As a special thank you to the selfless key workers during Covid-19, we are offering them a discount of up to five per cent on our state-of-the-art two-bedroom apartments. That equates to a saving of up to £18,000.

“This is of particular relevance to our St John’s Mews development, because it is less than 10 minutes walking district from York District Hospital, where so many of our brave York and North Yorkshire key workers are based. It is our way of demonstrating how valued these workers are.

“This discount, combined with the relaxation of Stamp Duty, make the two-beds in particular a real bargain. They are perfect both for a young couple starting out on the property ladder or a more elderly couple downsizing from a larger home”.

Meanwhile award-winning property agents Preston Baker have recently been appointed to market St John’s Mews and have launched a special Property of the Month initiative.

James Baker said: “It is an incredible opportunity to market St John’s Mews. We are delighted to have been appointed by such a reputable and highly regarded developer.

“Following on from the success in generating sales on Caedmon’s site in Priory Meadows near Boroughbridge, we are excited to be given the opportunity to sell the beautiful apartments in the centre of York, close to the Minster, York District Hospital and St John’s University. York University, meanwhile, is not far away.

“Our Property of the Month initiative got off to a tremendous start last month when we swiftly sold our featured property, a two-bed apartment with a balcony. This month we are offering a £15,000 reduction on a one-bed ground floor flat, now £185,000, and a £25,000 reduction on a two-bed ground floor flat, now £270,000.

“Meanwhile everyone here at Preston Baker is looking forward to seeking the reaction of the buyers when they see the penthouse apartment with its breath-taking views of the Minster.

“All apartments are ready for immediate occupation,” he added. “Please contact our team on 01904 803799 to make an appointment. The show flat is available for weekday and weekend viewings, but these must be pre-booked.”

Phase Two of the prestigious development, which comprises the two and three-bed apartments, has now been released and is proving very popular.

The two-bedroom properties start from £295,000 to £360,000, the two-bedroom duplex properties with balconies are available from £375,000 and the three-bedroom properties from £425,000 and £450,000.  Secure car parking is available.

Mr Brown added: “The affordability of the homes is a very important element of this project and, with the Government’s Help to Buy initiative, we have seen that a number of young professionals are able to become home-owners for the first time.

“We are extremely proud of St John’s Mews, which adds to the excellent reputation of the Groves as one of the city’s most popular residential areas.  It is proving to be especially attractive not only to first-time buyers, who are hoping to get a foothold on to the property ladder but to buyers who are looking for a “change of lifestyle” or retiring to the area,” he explained.

Mr Brown added: “Our show apartment gives prospective buyers the perfect opportunity to view a furnished property. Meanwhile the next phase of the development is ready for occupation and prospective buyers can see for themselves the quality of fixtures and fittings within the individual properties.”
