Tadcaster-based specialist engineering firm Tadweld has announced stellar new business figures as it continues with an impressive run of results, bucking the trend for British manufacturing.
Despite 2020 being a challenging year for businesses, Tadweld has won a roster of new contracts since March across its existing client base and new customers, totalling more than £2.5m.
The specialist engineering firm – which provides innovative steel solutions – has secured projects for global brands including AB InBev, Nestle and Heineken. With a large proportion of Tadweld’s customers being in the food and drink sector, the company has played a vital role in these supply chains throughout the COVID-19 crisis, dealing with unprecendeted demand.
Tadweld is also working with Derby-based Refresco, the largest drinks and contract packing manufacturer in the UK, to install a conveyor line at its Milton Keynes factory to allow for rinsing before cans are filled, and with Northallerton-based drinks manufacturer Cawingredients on its new purpose-built canning plant at Leeming Bar.
John Board, plant and engineering director at Cawingredients, said: “Tadweld has been our preferred supplier of platforms and steel structures for over 20 years now, over two businesses and three sites.
“In our latest project – our purpose-built canning plant at Leeming Bar, Tadweld successfully installed all necessary high-level empty can conveyor platforms, step overs, elevated panel suit platform and access platforms required for this installation.”
The news caps an exceptional year in which the 52-year-old company announced Richard Byfield, John Denton, Iain Leedham, Paul Rose and Kevin Wheelock as its new owners as well as reporting a 96 per cent year-on-year increase in profit and a revenue increase of 23 per cent this year.
Tadweld’s new chairman and director Paul Rose – formerly an EY Entrepreneur of the Year for Manufacturing and one of Yorkshire’s leading businessmen – said: “This year has presented unique challenges for companies in every sector. We’re extremely pleased that we’ve delivered strong results, increasing both profit and revenue, whilst securing new business with prestigious clients such as AB InBev, Cawingredients and Refresco.
“Tadweld is a good news story for British manufacturing and the resilience that we’ve shown gives us all the confidence that the business will continue to go from strength to strength. We’re all excited and optimistic for the future.”
