The drive to promote a circular economy by recycling redundant IT equipment has been boosted by a renewed deal between leading UK IT asset disposal (ITAD) company S2S Group and global IT lifecycle services business Procurri.
Rotherham-based S2S Group and the European arm of Procurri, which has headquarters in Singapore and hubs in Cirencester and Warrington, work in tandem to reduce the amount of IT equipment which goes to landfill.
A record 54m tonnes of e-waste was generated worldwide in 2019 and improper recycling has been condemned by the World Health Organisation as “a major emerging hazard, silently affecting our health and that of future generations.” ¹
The on-gojng relationship will see S2S Group safely dispose of end-of-life IT equipment for Procurri, which helps companies all over the world prolong the life of their IT by providing parts, maintenance and hardware resale services.
As one of the UK’s leading ITAD companies, S2S Group has an enviable reputation for providing innovative solutions to asset disposal and recycling with a policy of ‘zero to landfill’. In the last 12 months S2S have processed over 100 tonnes of e-waste from Procurri at its secure 30,000 sq.ft. facility in Rotherham.
S2S Group also provide Procurri with redundant hardware which they purchase for re-use from clients who would otherwise dispose of them. Both companies specialise in comprehensively deleting all data and are accredited members of ADISA, which ensures data protection compliance of the highest standards.
Procurri is a leading global independent provider of IT lifecycle services and data centre equipment with an extensive reach spanning more than 90 countries. Its main UK hubs are in Cirencester (its European headquarters) and Warrington, with further sales bases in Warwick and Wokingham. They provide enterprise data centre products, service and 24/7 software expertise to a wide range of customers, independent of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Raff Silano, operations director Procurri Europe, said: “It is vitally important to us and our clients that end of life equipment is securely disposed of to ensure complete data protection. S2S have an enviable proven track record with a range of services which mirror our requirements for recycling/resale and repair, as well as a unique Covid 19 sanitisation process for home workers.
“Furthermore S2S have been able to source potential resale equipment for us from their clients, which we have purchased to add to our extensive inventory of re-usable stock to the benefit of our customers.”
Grant Barton, S2S Group CEO, said: “We are delighted to be working with Procurri to promote the circular economy by helping to prolong the life of IT hardware. We provide Procurri Europe with useful parts which other companies no longer need, and our ‘zero to landfill’ policy will also ensure that end-of-life equipment they pass to us is put to good use in another form.”
Throughout the current Covid 19 pandemic, both companies have adopted and amended their working practices to ensure complete staff safety when handling the movement of customers’ equipment, with contactless and paperless documentation.
