Niche family law firm, Jones Myers, has been motivating and inspiring the next generation to pursue their career dreams and goals.
Norman Taylor, a collaborative family law expert at the award-winning firm, shared his wisdom with around 30 students from Leeds City College at a virtual event. His talk was part of the college’s Virtual Work Experience week for Business students whose studies include law.
A qualified lawyer for over 45 years, Norman has practised family law exclusively for the last 25 years. He highlighted how dramatically the legal landscape has evolved along with major technological changes.
Encouraging his audience ‘be the best that they can be’, his life tips included breaking down long term goals into mini-goals and building and developing their skills to become indispensible.
Norman, who is also a lecturer in collaborative law and mentors students at Leeds Beckett University, said: “Jones Myers is a champion of helping to develop the next generation and it was a pleasure to pass on what I’ve learnt personally and professionally.
“I urged students not to be deterred from their goals by others who may appear more knowledgeable – and to keep smiling and enjoy their journey.”
Akeisha Brown, business engagement officer at Leeds City College, said: “We’re delighted with the fantastic response from students who say Norman has given them invaluable insights and tips.
“Our students are at a formative stage as they navigate a career path and Norman’s experience and openness has given them a lot to think about.”
Emily Topham, work experience coordinator who hosted the session, said: “Norman was a wonderful speaker to work with. Overall the session was extremely insightful and really enjoyable for staff and students.”
Acknowledged as an exceptional family law practice, Jones Myers was crowned Family Law Firm of the Year North and applauded as a ‘Northern powerhouse’ in the Family Law awards 2020.
With offices in Leeds, Harrogate and York and further expansion in the pipeline, the firm has consistently retained its top tier regional rankings in legal guides for over two decades.
