A marketing agency specialising in data-driven creative campaigns has installed a state-of-the-art content studio at its headquarters in Leeds, after securing a six-figure funding package from Lloyds Bank.

Live & Breathe, which was founded in 1989, is a full-service creative agency offering services including data kinetics, strategy, digital and production, as well as content creation across video, motion graphics, photography and virtual influencers.

With 75 staff working across its offices in Leeds and London, they work with major retailers and well-known brands including Morrison’s, Mastercard, Carlsberg Group and General Mills.

The funding gave Live & Breathe the capital it needed to fully refurbish its Leeds office, including the fit-out of a new ground-floor digital content creation studio. The funding was used to purchase equipment including cameras, six lighting rigs and greenscreens. The firm was also able to invest in ‘virtual human’ suits, giving it the ability to digitally create virtual humans using computer generated imagery (CGI) for use on social media channels.

And on the first floor, Live & Breathe has created a dynamic new office space designed to cater for multiple working styles.

As well as delivering an outstanding experience for the firm’s employees, with new facilities designed to enable collaboration and creativity, the investment in a new studio has allowed Live & Breathe to promote digital content creation as a stand-alone service offer.

Stuart Mitchell, CEO and founder of Live & Breathe, said: “When lockdown was imposed last March, we knew brands would be challenged to find new ways to communicate with their customers, with visual content more important than ever.

“We have always had a content creation offering, but where previously we’d rely on renting external studio space for shoots, we can now provide a full service in-house. This has opened us up to an entirely new client base, and given us the opportunity to deliver additional value to existing clients.

“We have banked with Lloyds for more than 30 years – they were instrumental in helping us set up the agency, lending us the initial funds we needed to get started. And now they have provided us with the means to make this much-needed investment in our business, while allowing us to protect our cashflow during a turbulent time for the UK economy.”

Allie Butterworth, relationship director at Lloyds Bank, said: “Innovation is critical to stay ahead of the curve in the creative industries. Stuart and his team have demonstrated they are leading the charge when it comes to finding creative ways for brands to engage and communicate with their customer base.

“It has been rewarding for us to watch Live & Breathe go from strength to strength over the last three decades, and we’ll remain by their side as they embark on the next stage of their growth journey.”

The £200,000 funding was delivered via the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS).
