Having undertaken vast transformations, numerous upgrades and new installations, Galtres Lodge, an independently owned hotel in the centre of York, has re-opened its doors – and is offering visitors a completely new experience after an incredible lockdown ‘glow-up’.
Now boasting a brand new reception area, guests will experience a cosy, warm setting upon entering the hotel. Venturing through the building, major transformations undertaken in public areas such as the hotel corridors and staircases, alongside the newly refurbished Forest restaurant, are set to delight visitors.
It’s a fresh, new start for Galtres Lodge, who are excited to share their various upgrades with locals and visitors alike following the much-anticipated lessening of lockdown restrictions. Guests can now revel in luxury overnight stays in one of the hotel’s boutique bedrooms, with the option to indulge in delicious dishes at Forest restaurant from the comfort of indoors.
As the hospitality industry clambers back to its feet post COVID-19, keys will be exchanged as the entirety of England compete for overnight trips at the UK’s best staycations. Since announcing its reopening, bookings have been going through the roof at Galtres Lodge, cementing its status as one of the most popular places to visit in Yorkshire.
With its beautifully crafted rooms, picturesque views and dog-friendly status, it’s no surprise that Galtres remains a firm favourite for post quarantine trips. Having been closed in line with government guidance since December 2020, guests can now finally treat themselves to an overnight stay in the hotel’s charming, oak-adorned rooms, which boast Georgian-themed décor and spectacular sights of York Minster.
The reopening extends to its indoor dining area, which has also undergone sparkling renovations. Galtres Lodge is especially proud to introduce its snug, new private dining area, fondly referred to as ‘The Hideaway’, which will be serving its seasonal new menu for spring.
Rebecca Hill, owner of Galtres Lodge Hotel, said: “It’s a wonderful feeling to be open again and to be welcoming guests at both the hotel and Forest restaurant. We’re especially excited for visitors to see the results of our refurbishment, which has been keeping us busy during the lockdown and has given us something positive to focus on at an otherwise difficult time.”
“The response so far has been fantastic, and we have noticed an increase of 50 per cent in bookings for June, which shows that consumer confidence is strong. We’ve also noticed a slight change in consumer behaviour since we announced our reopening, with people now planning further ahead with bookings and booking throughout the week – not just for weekends.
“This is incredibly reassuring to those working in hospitality as it shows people are still choosing to support the sector and will come at other days and times to do so.”
