Staff at Staff UK filled bedding brand Slumberdown’s Mirfield HQ embraced a touch of pink recently in honour of Leeds based children’s cancer charity Candlelighters, as they took part in the charity’s annual Pink It Up! Campaign.
Candlelighters supports families across Yorkshire who are facing children’s cancer. Working with families on the region’s cancer wards as well as in the community, the charity organises and runs a range of different projects to help ordinary families who are faced with extraordinary circumstances.
Candlelighters offers a range of support from help and advice to financial support and even residential trips for families to offer some much-needed respite. The charity’s annual Pink It Up! campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for children affected by cancer and their families.
From turning everything from internal emails to computer notifications pink for the whole week, Slumberdown staff also took part in a dress down day, wearing a range of pink outfits to support the cause. The team also took part in fundraising activities including pink themed sweet sales.
As part of the company’s ongoing support of Candlelighters, Slumberdown also supported a residential weekend for the siblings of children with cancer, gifting fruit scented pillows to each child as well as helping with travel costs. In total, Slumberdown has raised and donated over £700 to the charity.
Anjna Mistry, senior marketing manager at Slumberdown, said: “Candlelighters is an organisation that is very close to our hearts here at Slumberdown and we’re thrilled to have been able to support them by taking part in this year’s Pink It Up! Campaign, and by funding the recent residential trip for the siblings of children with cancer.
“Being based in Yorkshire, it’s important that we’re able to support our local community and particularly, organisations like Candlelighters where their work is so important to families across the county who are faced with such difficult circumstances.”
Tom Robertshaw, head of fundraising at Candlelighters, said; “We’re so grateful to have the support of such a well-known brand like Slumberdown.
“Each year, around 150 children in Yorkshire will be diagnosed with cancer, and for the last 45 years, we have been there to support them and their families throughout this diagnosis. It’s thanks to fundraising like this that we’re able to provide vital emotional, practical and financial support which can last a lifetime if a family so wishes.
“Generous donations like this help us to not only support families through unimaginably difficult circumstances, but also to fund vital research to improve the lives and outcomes for children with cancer.”
