A 28-year-old business owner from Leeds has picked up a national award recognising his leadership capabilities and the successful growth of his business.
Edward Wick is the co-founder and managing director of Penguin FM, a facilities management company based in Leeds city centre. He was awarded the Emerging Workplace Leaders Young Leader of the Year Award 2021 at a ceremony in London, following the growth and expansion of Penguin FM.
After setting up a commercial window cleaning business after university, Edward formed Penguin FM in 2017 with childhood friend Rohin Dhand and together the pair have grown the business to a team of 12 office and 20 site staff.
The business serves national clients including Wren Kitchens, Easy Bathrooms and the NHS. 2020 saw the business achieve a 250 per cent increase in turnover and in 2021 the team opened a new central London Office to serve their growing Southern client base.
The judging panel praised Edward’s focus on sustainable growth and his commitment to nurturing talent, his focus on people and wellbeing and the clever use of technology and innovation across the business.
Edward said: “It was a surprise and an honour to receive such a prestigious award and it’s all down to the hard work and dedication of the Penguin Team. We’ve always tried to do things differently and challenge the norm and that is paying off.”
