Barnsley-based automotive parts distributor, Butlers Automotive, part of the Autosupplies Group, has kicked off its kit sponsorship of local charity football team, Mind Over Matter FC, who are currently playing in Division 2 of the Mexbrough and District Sunday League.
Formed in 2020, the club’s aim is to help support the local Mexborough mental health charity – Mind Over Matter.
The football team was created to raise awareness of mental health and to offer an escape for men struggling with mental health issues, as a distraction from their day-to-day battles and giving them an opportunity to speak about their issues with other people in similar situations.
The football team has already proved to be a perfect forum for this, with many of the current team admitting that their mental wellbeing has improved, friendships have been formed and challenges have been overcome.
Mind Over Matter FC recently formed a Men’s Over 35s team to offer the same environment and support to even more men, and there are plans to form a ladies team in the not too distant future.
Autosupplies Group managing directo, David Clarke said: “The Autosupplies Group team are big supporters of local charities and initiatives, as we recognise the importance of the local community and offering support where we can. Mind Over Matter FC is a forward-thinking initiative for a fantastic cause, and we’re delighted to be sponsoring them and wish them all the luck over the coming season.”
Autosupplies Group has enjoyed considerable success over the last four years. The Group acquired Butlers Automotive in 2017 and Leisureways in 2019 as part of its expansion plans across Yorkshire and the East Midlands to boost the business, investing heavily in recruiting new staff, increased stock availability, infrastructure and logistics.
The Autosupplies Group is one of the single largest motor factor sites in the UK with over 160 staff and 80 vans.
