Sales development consultancy, SalesStar UK, has appointed its first employee via the government’s Kickstarter scheme.
The Huddersfield-based firm, which is the UK branch of the global firm, has taken on Oliver Eaton as social media executive. He will be in charge of the output of content across all of the firm’s social media platforms.
The appointment of Oliver marks SalesStar UK’s commitment to investing in young professionals, allowing them to develop and enhance their professional careers with guidance from the team at SalesStar.
Oliver’s appointment follows that of Dylan Cowan, who was taken on board in September as an apprentice sales executive.
Dylan works as a vital member of the sales team and is also studying a degree with Leeds Trinity University as part of his apprenticeship.
Pete Evans, managing director at SalesStar UK, said: “Hiring Oliver as our social media executive was a great move for us at SalesStar. Whilst we are committed to engaging with and helping develop young professionals, I firmly believe that the perspectives they bring to the table cannot be found elsewhere, making it a win-win situation for all of us.”

The Kickstarter scheme was announced by the government to help get 16 – 24-year-olds into work following difficulties brought about by COVID. The pandemic saw a vast increase in youth unemployment figures, which spurred the firm to ensure they could be a beacon of support, where possible.
Oliver said: “Opportunities for our generation are slim at the moment, so to become part of a global brand is incredibly exciting for me. The prospect of putting my experience to telling the story of SalesStar is an honour, and the chance to engage with the global audience via the UK’s arm of the company is a new challenge I can’t wait to take on.”
Oliver graduated in 2018 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He also has extensive experience with videography and content creation having worked for Huddersfield Town Women FC and local radio channels, as well as taking it upon himself to take part in regular work experience whilst studying.
